Obstruction for What?
The indictment of Lewis Libby amounts to an allegation that one official lied about what he knew about an underlying "crime" that wasn't committed. Unless Mr. Fitzgerald can prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Mr. Libby was lying, and doing so for some nefarious purpose, this indictment looks like a case of criminalizing politics. A waste of two years and millions of dollars.
Liberal Neutrality
Anyone who believes what the average American believed half a century ago -- about the role of the courts, abortion, sexual morality, and of course Jesus Christ -- is now damned as a "bigot" or "extremist" by liberal opinion.

A Separate Peace (One of Noonan's strongests)
"I have a nagging sense, and think I have accurately observed, that many... have made a separate peace. That they're living their lives and taking their pleasures and pursuing their agendas; that they're going forward each day with the knowledge... that the wheels are off the trolley and the trolley's off the tracks, and with a conviction... that there is nothing they can do about it."
When The Leaders of Civil Rights Were Civilized
"An America where blacks run Merrill Lynch, American Express and the State Department no longer needs civil-rights activism of the Rosa Parks and James Weldon Johnson variety, and hasn't for decades. Thanks in large part to their diligence and sacrifices, the battle for legal equality has been fought and won. Blacks still face social and economic challenges, but these result mainly from self-inflicted cultural wounds, not a manifestly unjust society."
