Blogged: Al-Zarqawi Dead?

The Jerusalem Post has a mention of the Elaph Arab media claim that “Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, leader of Al-Qaeda in Iraq, was killed today when eight terrorists blew themselves up in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul. The unconfirmed report claimed that the explosions occurred while coalition forces surrounded the house in which al-Zarqawi was hiding. American and Iraqi forces are looking into the report.”
A second report says the report of his death is “unreliable.”
Update: Monday morning on Fox and Friends they stated that “tests are being run” to determine if one of the dead terrorists is indeed Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
NewsMax also reported that a U.S. official, “told United Press International that efforts to confirm Zarqawi’s death were ‘not a response to media reports but rather to what coalition forces found on the ground.’”
This all follows shortly after 57 members of the al-Khalaylah family (al-Zarqawi’s real last name) took out a half-page ad in a Jordanian newspaper to denounce their relative, to say that they had cut him off forever, and to declare their allegiance to the Hashemite monarchy.
