Muslims More Privileged Than Christians

In Berlin the Deutsche Opera has cancelled a Mozart performance for fear of Muslim violence. The manager of the opera called a press conference at which she explained that, ‘’We were alerted by the police that all the press publicity surrounding the play would severely heightened the security risk to this opera.’’ In other words, rather than taking steps to guarantee security the police seemed to be issuing a threat of their own.
At issue was the fact that the scenario called for the severed heads of Muhammad, Jesus, and Buddha to be displayed on chairs. This, of course, would offend Muslims. Any offence that might be suffered by Christians was of no apparent concern. Christians are used to having their religion insulted. Muslims are used to employing bullying to stifle free speech they dislike.
The German Interior Minister declared the cancellation ‘unacceptable.’’ ‘’We will tend to become crazy if we start forbidding Mozart in opera houses,’’ he said.
