PBS Chief Denies Public TV is Liberal
By SuppressedNews
Posted on: May 25, 2005
It is another case of the liberals not admitting to what they really are: a bunch of liberals promoting a liberal agenda. They call their liberal media "mainstream" in denial of their true nature.
Defending the Public Broadcasting Service from accusations of liberal bias, PBS President Pat Mitchell said Tuesday, "The Public Broadcasting Service does not allow political pressure to influence content decisions." Oh, really?
An amazing point of this story is that Pat Mitchell's comments are a stark contrast to those of Ken Tomlinson, president of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Mr. Tomlinson is trying to add conservative programming to PBS to balance what he refers to as "liberal advocacy" programming. He was somewhat "mystified by the controversy" that anybody would oppose common-sense balance to PBS programming.
In case you are buying into the argument that PBS is balanced in their programming, SuppressedNews has extracted samples of comments made not by guest commentators, but by the left-wing hosts. From the PBS show "NOW," here are a few outrageous, liberally-biased comments recently aired:
"...getting rid of the filibuster so that only 51 votes instead of 60 are required in the Senate to pass key nominations would be like waking up to find there'd been a special election overnight and that Republicans had won nine extra votes in the United States Senate."
"To what extent [Janice Rogers] Brown believes government is a force for evil or a force for good is a big deal."
"The naked power plays in the U.S. Senate this week come as no surprise to anyone who knows their way around certain state capitals. The one in Texas comes to mind where White House political Genius Karl Rove and others in President Bush's inner circle cut their professional teeth."
"I don't wanna be flip. But the fact is, you know, I have my own copy of the Constitution. But I also pulled one off Google this morning, the text. And if you do a search function, a find, the word "God" isn't in it. In the US Constitution. It just comes up empty on that point. There is a legitimate debate about how much our Founding Fathers expected religion to be a part of our public life."
