Profiling -- yes!
By Jim Jackson

The removal of six Muslim Imams from a US Airways flight at Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport is an example of profiling at its best.
The removal of the Imams occurred on Nov. 20, after other passengers noted several suspicious actions. In the airport before boarding, the Imams were overheard, by an Arabic speaking passenger, praying in Arabic, chanting “Allah, Allah, Allah.” One was overheard expressing his disgust with the U.S. war in Iraq and with America in general. One was heard declaring that he would do whatever was necessary to fulfill his obligations to the Koran, while another repeatedly said “Allah, Allah.” When they boarded, they did not sit together, but scattered throughout the plane. They asked for seat-belt extenders that they did not appear to need. Three of them had one-way tickets and no checked baggage. One of the Imams, Omar Shahin, Director of the Islamic Center of Tucson, was involved with the Islamic charity Kind Hearts, which had its assets frozen by the U.S. Treasury Department because of its connections to the terrorists group Hamas.
The Imams said they were discriminated against, and that they were humiliated. According to Robert Spencer, 11/22/06, Contessa Brewer of MSNBC compared the Imams to Rosa Parks. According to a column by Mona Charen, 11/24/06, the Department of Homeland Security has announced that its Office of Civil Rights and Civil Liberties is opening an inquiry into the incident.
There are some who say that US Airways should apologize. Apologize? Not no, but hell no! Instead, they should award the captain of the plane a medal for due diligence. If the terrorists (all Arabic Muslims) on 9/11 had been profiled, 3000 Americans would still be alive. When you are at war with people of a certain ethnicity, you look very hard at them -- you profile them. And, if that offends citizens of this country -- tough. Actually, these citizens should be pleased that the country that they have adopted is safer.
Yes! The Imams were profiled, and they were discriminated against. And, they probably didn’t like it. So what. These are the very people, leaders of the Islamic Religion, that have refused to fight against the terrorists, who are all of the Islamic faith. These are the leaders of a religion that teaches their children to kill. According to a column by Ann Coulter, 11/22/06, “Omar Shahin’s own ‘scholarship’ consisted of continuing to deny Muslims were behind 9/11 nearly two months after the attacks. On Nov. 4, 2001, the Arizona Republic cited Shahin’s skepticism that Muslims or bin Laden carried out attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.” This was after bin Laden had produced a videotape in October claiming credit for the attacks.
Now, let’s get down to the heart of this incident. These six people, the Imams, are leaders in their community, probably the smarter people in the community. For them to act the way they did at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport in these trying times, and not expect to be noticed, would indicate a high level of stupidity. These people are not stupid. Therefore, one would have to be wearing a dunce cap not to conclude that all of this was intentional. They knew that they would be profiled and a scene would follow. They knew that the media would play it to the hilt, and that they would get wide coverage. All of this would further infuriate the Arab world against America, and they would have done their duty under the precepts of the Islamic Religion -- death to the infidels. It was a well-planned ruse which was probably worked out at a special session of the 150 Imam Federation Meeting in Minneapolis. A way of forcing Americans not only to accept them and their culture, but getting it done on their own terms. It worked in the Civil Rights movement, why not here. They ought to be charged with aiding and abetting the enemy, but they will probably receive a well-publiced apology.
Coulter put it this way: “On the eve of the busiest travel in America, these ‘scholars’ have ginned up America’s PC victim machinery to intimidate airlines and passengers from noticing six imams chanting ‘Allah’ before boarding a commercial jet.”
Now, let’s get back to the act of profiling. Considering the circumstances which we Americans are living under today, it is imperative that we use every means at our disposal to protect ourselves. We cannot allow another 9/11 to occur. The Politically Correct (PC) system, implemented as part of the Civil Rights movement, is clearly standing in the way of this needed protection. And, it has to go.
And, one the ways to make it go is for the people who fly to be more alert, to report any suspects, and to insist that authorities do their job -- exactly what the passengers did in Minneapolis. Further,, the Muslims who have been welcomed into this country, should help defend it -- not like the Imams did in Minneapolis.
Spencer summed it up very well when he said: “If America is to survive, it is eventually going to have to choose national security over political correctness.”
